Grace M. Johnston

Attorney

Robert came to law as a second career committed to the idea that excellent skill, knowledge, and representation are not just a goal, but an absolute requirement.  As Managing Partner of KPM LAW’s Fairfax Office, Robert put together and manages an aggressive team of litigation professionals committed to aggressive, efficient and responsive promotion of client interests.

Robert focuses his practice on the defense of large loss and complex commercial and construction claims, contract disputes, professional and business liabilities, commercial transportation accidents, and premises liability, as well as insurance coverage analysis and litigation.  He has tried numerous cases in both state and federal courts and has successfully argued in the appellate courts of Virginia, Maryland and the Fourth Circuit.

After graduating from the University of Virginia, Robert received a full scholarship to study opera at the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia.  He sang for ten years on stages from the east coast to Chicago before returning to law school at the College of William and Mary, where he took second place in William Mary’s National Moot Court competition and was a member of the I’Anson-Hoffman Inns of Court.  Robert is happily married and also manages his boy-girl twins and a wonderful mixed-breed, rescue dog.

Grace M. Johnston is an attorney in KPM LAW’s Richmond office, where she focuses her practice on coverage and fraud matters and commercial liability defense. She brings a detail-oriented and practical approach to her work, emphasizing clear communication, reliability, and thoughtful legal guidance throughout the litigation process.

Grace earned her Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations, with a minor in Global Health, from the University of Georgia in 2020 and her Juris Doctor from George Mason University's Antonin Scalia Law School in 2024. She was admitted to the Virginia Bar in 2024.

Before joining KPM LAW, Grace served as a judicial law clerk at the Fairfax County Circuit Court, working with Judges Brett A. Kassabian and Michelle M. Kaminsky. She subsequently clerked for Judge Mary B. Malveaux at the Court of Appeals of Virginia. These experiences strengthened her understanding of civil litigation, trial court proceedings, and appellate practice.

Known for her approachable nature, professionalism, and organizational skills, Grace is committed to providing clients with practical guidance and dependable representation. Outside of work, she enjoys baking, reading, playing tennis, trying new restaurants, and exploring Richmond.
